Ignorance is Bliss.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry that I'm awful at blogging, but my life isn't too exciting so I don't have much of anything to blog about every day.  But, I have found my topic for today.

A particular event that recently occurred that has the public in an uproar: the NSA leak.

Some people may not be aware of what's going on, so I'll break it down quick.  It was currently brought to the public that the US government and the NSA have direct access to nine Internet companies (Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, and Apple) through a PowerPoint presentation code-named PRISM, and that Verizon has been handing over all of their customers call logs to the government relating to foreign suspects in terror investigations.

I repeat, relating to foreign suspects in terror investigations.

My Facebook friends and Twitter followers have been going crazy over this saying how "unconstitutional and ridiculous" it is that the government is "spying on us and invading our privacy."  1.  The government is not spying on you nor is it invading your privacy.  I highly doubt the NSA is worried about what your plans are for Saturday night with that girl/boy you recently asked out.
2.  Also, if everyone researched just a teeny bit more, they would know this "spying" has been going on for seven years.  And all of us have lived perfectly fine without knowing up until this point.  Hence the title of this post; what we don't know won't affect us.

What people need to understand is that the NSA has been looking through online data and our call logs for our safety. The safety of every single one of us US citizens.  I don't know about you, but if the government can catch some form of suspicious terrorism activity before anything fatal happens through call logs and online data, I would be extremely happy and not worried that they were snooping in on my texts to my best friends/boyfriend/family.

Until next time
xx
